She may walk blindly into a wall on occasion, but Sharene clearly sees the “Big Picture” of brand strategy. A graduate of Cal State Long Beach with a B.S. in Industrial Design, Sharene has practiced both the industrial as well as graphic disciplines of design for the past 20 years. She leaps every hurdle the design industry throws in front of her with the dexterity of a dancer and the drive of a Mac truck. She runs Pi Design with an iron fist and a soft heart, cramming deadlines down the throats of the staff and always expecting 113.1415%. Sharene WILL take your company’s image to the next level, but there’s a good chance she’ll trip up the stairs on the way.

Joel Dualan

Information Architect

Joel came to Pi Design to start a new chapter in his life. He wanted to become a graphic designer and get away from the tedious chore of programming and technical hooha he had been doing for years. Since that first triumphant day when he graced the Pi Design doorstep with his presence, we’ve been so excited to have such a talented, knowledgeable, creative person on staff, with programming abilities that he’s been shackled to a desk doing all of the tedious, technical, web programming hooha and setting the high standards of design excellence that are expected from Pi Design.

Heber Pelayo

Graphic Designer

After weeks of coming to work to find the words “Hire me or I’ll steal all of your cheese!” spray-painted in beautiful graffiti lettering across the front door, Sharene showed up one day to find Heber lying in the courtyard unconscious with a knot on his head and an empty spray can in hand. Apparently he had inhaled too many paint fumes and fallen while making his getaway on rollerblades in the shadows of night. The Pi Design team kept him around while his wounds healed to handle some of the smaller production jobs. In a matter of only a few short days Sharene realized the talent that Heber possessed. Upon his recovery we learned that he had received his training at the Art Institute and had four years experience handling prepress and design for a marketing firm. Heber has become a valuable asset to our team at Pi Design and he’ll be around for a long time to come. And don’t worry, we’ll keep him and his spray-paint away from your projects and your pets.

Matt Lawler

Graphic Designer

Matt must have been born with one pencil already tucked behind his ear and another clutched tightly in his hand. He is rarely seen without them and his fabulous sketches have been the inspiration for many an ad campaign and brochure. He honed his illustration style while studying Graphic Design and Fine Arts at C.S.U.C.I. and can quickly whip up just the right image to visually communicate any message. We recently replaced his pencil with a Wacom tablet and there's just no stopping him now…that is, unless the surf is good.

Dustin McKim

Videographer

Dustin heads up our Digital Media and Film department building amazing brand recognition pieces. After graduating Art Center College of Design with a BFA in Film he started his film career working in every capacity possible, from director, cinematographer, to television editor of a late night TV show.

Frustrated with mediocre film technology and 14 hour workdays, Dustin switched his career into the business and creative world of Marketing. He has worked for various companies like Disney, Paramount, HP, and Sony on promotions and retail trade marketing campaigns. He is currently finishing his MBA in Marketing.

Upon the digital film making revolution, Dustin has jumped back in with a vengeance as a Producer and Director of films, commercials, and industrials here at Pi Design.

Suddenly working 14 hour days is fun again.
